Patterns made by kids in Adobe Illustrator

This pattern was done in Illustrator by 6 year old Tea. She used her initials and learned how to copy and paste them and then rotate them. She made one circle and then learned how to group them and eventually got an entire line done. After that she copied and pasted it over and over to make her pattern. Pink and purple are her favorite colors.

Members Personal Logos

These are personal logos done members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Emerald Valley.

They had to draw at least 10 different sketches using their initials and then redraw their best one larger.  Then they we scanned them into the computer and then used the projector to put it on the wall where the member traced their logo on to card board.

Many members are now burning them into wood. There will be more pictures to come!  Congrats to the members that have finished their logos and that were chose for the blog. Isis, Josh, Ben, Tristan, Jaxen, Zariah, Amrita, Hanah, and Germiah.

The Teens Billboard National Boys & Girls Clubs Digital Arts Competition

Teen members Kory and Gabby spent hours working on this project.  They took the photos of their fellow members laying down on the gym floor spelling out "BE GREAT". They felt that the kids in the picture are all successful because of coming to the Boys & Girls Club. They learned how to use the "pen" tool in Photoshop CS2 to cut out all the members from the background. Then placed them on their layout and used a drop shadow to make them stand out a little more from the blue bars and white background.

Be Great Bumper Stickers for the National Digital Arts Competition

Ezra created this bumper sticker for the national Boys & Girls Clubs Digital Arts competition.  He came up with the idea to paint letters on members hands to spell "BE GREAT" He did this 2 times trying to find out what would work the best and this is what his final project turned out to be.

Connor came up with this great idea to involve tons of members in the club. There are over 30 members hand prints involved.  He chose a member named Hugo who he felt is successful at the club, school, and in our community to represent someone that is "GREAT" because of our Boys & Girls Club.

National Fine Arts monochromatic drawing projects

Members have the opportunity every Tuesday to participate in the Boys & Girls Club National Fine Arts program.  Over the last 3 weeks our members have been learning about drawing techniques for monochromatic drawing. Members have been using charcoal and graphite.

Here is a member working on the outlining of her self portrait by using the help of a projector and a computer. She later worked on the shading with out the projected image.

This member is working on outlining a landscape of an image taken by another member in our Image Makers national program.
